Griniu's journey began in 2003 as the Arabian Company for Transportation Services (ACS), providing logistics solutions to Egypt's mining and industrial sectors. This experience gave the company first-hand insight into the environmental challenges surrounding industrial waste and resource consumption.

Transformation into Environmental Solutions
In 2010, Griniu began its transformation into an environmental solutions company, pioneering the recovery of agricultural residues to produce renewable biomass fuel for Egypt's cement and industrial sectors. Its capabilities later expanded into the recovery of Blast Furnace Slag (BFS) and Steel Slag (SS), transforming industrial by-products into valuable resources for cement manufacturing.

Commissioning of the Suez Re-Refinery
A major milestone followed in 2016 with the commissioning of Griniu's advanced waste mineral oil re-refinery in Suez. Designed as a zero-waste facility, it converts used lubricating oil into premium re-refined base oils, fuel fractions, and asphalt components for local and international markets.

Recovery at Industrial Scale
Since commissioning, the refinery has processed more than 500,000 barrels of used lubricating oil, with its re-refined base oils supplied to international markets. Today, Griniu recovers approximately 80,000 tons of waste mineral oil and 35,000 tons of agricultural biomass, strengthening its contribution to Egypt's circular economy.

The Next Phase of Growth
By the end of 2026, Griniu will enter its next phase of growth, expanding its refining capabilities by 24 KTA (24,000 metric tons) through an ultra-modern re-refinery designed for greater efficiency, environmental performance, and operational excellence.
This evolution is embodied in Griniu — a new identity reflecting the company's vision to build Egypt's first fully integrated recycling hub, where environmental solutions work together to maximize resource recovery and create lasting industrial value.

Stage 01
Waste Mineral Oil Re-Refining
Our state-of-the-art refinery applies a carefully engineered multi-stage process designed to maximize recovery while maintaining exceptional product quality. The process begins with pre-treatment, where used lubricating oil undergoes filtration, dehydration, and conditioning to remove contaminants and prepare the feedstock for processing. The oil then passes through light hydrocarbon removal, followed by two stages of vacuum distillation, enabling precise separation of valuable hydrocarbon fractions under controlled temperatures and reduced pressure. The recovered products are subsequently refined through advanced polishing processes that improve colour, stability, sulphur content, and overall product performance before undergoing comprehensive laboratory verification. The result is a portfolio of premium re-refined base oils, diesel fractions, and asphalt components manufactured with minimal waste generation and outstanding resource efficiency.
Stage 02
Agricultural Biomass Recovery
Agricultural residues collected from orchards and farming operations are transformed into standardized biomass fuel through industrial shredding, controlled sizing, moisture optimization, and quality assurance procedures. The resulting biomass provides a renewable alternative fuel for cement kilns and heavy industries while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and eliminating environmentally harmful open-field burning.

Industrial Mineral Recovery
Griniu recovers valuable industrial minerals, including Blast Furnace Slag (BFS) and Steel Slag (SS), supporting resource efficiency within the cement industry while contributing to industrial decarbonization and reduced dependence on virgin raw materials.
